ESA Software Community License
The applicable versions of the ESA Software Community License (ESCL) are provided on ESSR.
The ESCL is available in three different flavours:
- ESCL Strong Copyleft - v2.4, with Copyleft clause (cl. 3.1)
- ESCL Weak Copyleft - v2.4, with Copyleft clause (cl. 3.1), but allowing certain Combinations (cl. 3.2.4)
- ESCL Permissive - v2.4, with No Copyleft clause (cl. 3.1)
A page with Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) provides answers to common questions related to the ESA-PL in ESA context and beyond.
Note: Both the commentary and FAQ mentioned above are also usable in the context of the ESCL as long as the regional constraint of the ESCL is not touched. The ESCL differs from the ESA-PL only in its restriction to the Territory of ESA Member States. So while the ESA-PL allows world-wide use of the software, the ESCL limits use of the software to the Territory of ESA Member States (compare 1.13, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.4).
